Our Senior Citizen’s (funded by Age Options) strive to improve the quality of life for those in our community. We do this by providing services and referrals designed to foster independence, enabling the individual to remain active members of the community for as long as possible.

All services are offered in English, Spanish, and Polish.

ADRN - Aging, Disabled Resource Network

The Aging and Disability Resource Network (ADRN) is a program that creates a single, coordinated system of information and access for older adults and people with disabilities aged 18-59.

ADRN serves as a single point of entry to Information and Assistance (I&A) which is giving adequate referrals and information on different benefits or services. Options Counseling (OC), which is to help people plan for their future long term support needs. Senior Health Assistance Program (SHAP) which is providing information and help with applying for various benefits and programs for older adults and persons with disabilities.

Senior Opportunities and Services

This program is designed to identify and meet the needs of older, at-risk individuals through effective referrals
to existing health, employment, housing, legal, consumer, transportation and other services. In-house referrals for psychiatric and mental healthcare are available when such needs are identified.

Transportation Services

Transportation services enable individuals to travel to and from community resources in order to receive services, reduce isolation and otherwise encourage independent living. These services provide local transportation for medical appointments and necessary errands, and our drivers provide door-to-door service.

Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP)

SHIP is a free statewide health insurance counseling service for Medicare beneficiaries and their caregivers. SHIP is a volunteer program to assist consumers in making informed health insurance decisions.
SHIP counselors DO NOT sell or solicit insurance.

Community and Economic Development Association (CEDA)
Home Energy Assistance for LEYDEN TOWNSHIP only:

  • Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

  • Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP) recertifications only – New PIPP enrollment is NOT available.

  • Furnace (Program will close May 31st 2024 or until funds exhaust)

  • Weatherization

  • Low Income Home Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) Not Available

  • ComEd Residential Hardship Not Available

  • Please bring the following with you to your appointment:

    • Last 30 days of income - this can be wages/ Award letter/Pension letter etc. (for all household members)

    • Social Security Cards (for all household members)

    • Most recent utility bills (ComEd and Nicor)

The LIHEAP program will run October 2, 2023- August 15th, 2024, or UNTIL FUNDS ARE EXHASTED.

Priority Group 1- Beginning October 2nd household with:

  • A senior (60+)

  • Persons with a disability

  • Families with children 5 years or younger 

Priority Group 2- Beginning November 1st households:

  • Disconnected from one or both utilities.

  • In danger of being disconnected from one or both utilities.

December 1st -anyone can apply if they are eligible from above or income.
